More About Katina
Hello, I am Katina, welcome to Recover Newport Beach! I am an Eating Disorder and Trauma Therapist with extensive experience working with young women and their families in various clinical and community settings. I am very passionate about this work and creating an environment of warmth and healing to help my clients feel safe to start to let go of their eating disorder and move towards a full, recovered life. Having recovered from an eating disorder myself, I am sensitive and attuned to my client’s process and needs. I use my own recovery story to help validate my clients and create an environment of hope and resilience. My approach to healing draws from various therapeutic modalities including Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I am trained in the treatment of anxiety, disordered eating, body image, self-identity, trauma, substance misuse, narcissistic abuse recovery, and personal development. My goal is to meet you where you are and support you and your family in the way that best fits your needs.
I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, where I currently teach Developmental Psychology to Master’s level students. Before I began my career as a therapist, I held various positions working in medical and plastic surgery centers, which gave me a unique perspective and insight into the experience many women go through to try and fit into society’s standards of beauty and body image. I feel that my personal experience coupled with my professional background help me connect with and support my clients in a validating environment that inspires hope and promotes change.
Besides my passion for my work, I am also a wife and a mom. I am very active in my local community theater, I enjoy local art, travelling and spending time with the people I love. I also enjoy my alone time where I meditate and spend time in nature. I can truly say that my life in recovery is worth all that it took to get here. I am very excited to be a part of your recovery journey and I hope you know how brave you are for seeking support.
I am currently providing therapy in-person and via telehealth for our Southern CA clients and via telehealth to clients across the rest of CA.
